| Top 20 Most Listened To Albums of This Year Starting From Last Summer
The Always Open Mouth by Fear Before the March of Flames This album is the best off the band Fear Before the March of Flames! They're older albums, to my ears, were pretty much just noise but they made this sound a little different but still keeping their insanity!
And the Glass Handed Kites by Mew
This album doesn't have many great songs, but when you find a song you do like...you are obsessed with it!
Blood & Chocolate Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
Not a great movie, but the soundtrack is excellent, especially if you're into darkwave/electronica music. I hate techno, but I wouldn't classify the style of the music of this soundtrack.
Rooney
They're bringing back the classics! Classic rock'n'roll music, classic dress sense, classic music videos...in their own way of course.
The Threepenny Opera Original Cast Recording The Donmar Warehouse Production 1994
Yes, this is the soundtrack we used to do our "30 Baht Opera".
Rancid
Fronted by Brody Dalle's ex-husband Tim Armstrong, he has the same awesome gravelly singing voice and wild energy. Rancid also has one of the meanest bass players ever!
Strange Days by The Doors
Fronted by the gorgeous Jim Morrison!
Paradize by Indochine
French band that makes amazing new wave music.
Against the Grain by Bad Religion
Brett has an amazing voice and I think his lyrics are equally impressive. But if you're not really into deep lyrics, then the band's punk rock sound should impress you!
Conspiracy of One by The Offspring
I've bought this ages ago but started listening to it properly only last autumn. The guy's voice is insane!!!
Crimes by The Blood Brothers
I honestly think they're one of the most unique post-hardcore bands out there!
11:11 by Regina Spektor
Her singing is soulful yet quirky. Her lyrics are absurd. I adore this!
Goo by Sonic Youth
Drawn to this by the album cover. The genre of their music is considered "art rock" because they love to experiment with different sounds and I love Kim's voice!
American Thighs by Veruca Salt
The harmonizing of the female singers is one of the best things of the band and the slightly grungy yet relaxing sound of this alternative rock band has made this album one of my absolute favorites!
Neon Ballroom by Silverchair
When I listen to this, I can picture a rock band playing with an orchestra in an opera house where a masquerade party is held. I love that image which is why I keep listening to it!
Doomsday Machine by Arch Enemy
One of the heavier and harder stuff that I listen to. This melodic death metal band is fronted by a woman!
Yes Virginia... by The Dresden Dolls
I can't even describe The Dresden Dolls, they're simply amazing! And it's only two people, a pianist and drummer and they sound like a cabaret and rock band at the same time!
The Dresden Dolls Another one!
Planet of the Apes by Guano Apes (best of)
Fronted by a woman again. They are a mix of rapcore and funk rock and they are one of Germany's most successful bands. Also, Sandra Nasic can speak (or sing, for that matter) extremely good English and French! And the Winner Is... House of Secrets by Otep Believe me, it was hard to find the winner. But Otep Shamaya's deep poems and messages and the band's extremely angry and eerie sounds has made such an impression on me and I've never gotten bored with it! I don't think you guys would like it, but look up the lyrics. Oh yeah, Otep is a woman! |
